More about this painting
“Etty Hillesum was a Jewish, Dutch and Russion woman who lived in Amsterdam during the second World War. I’m reading her diaries and letters she wrote now for the fourth time. What she writes is so interesting and spiritual, it seems to me she is a wonderful guide in these days too. This painting is not an exact portrait, but her books and appearence are definitely a source of inspiration for it. The painting hangs now in the house of the friend who first told me about Etty.”
