Bob Immink – Contemporary Oil paintings

Petrus Theodorus Immink (Amsterdam 1930 – Ilpendam, 1989) was a painter, graphic artist, screen printer and watercolourist. At the age of 37 he moved to the Zaanstreek. That North Holland landscape was captured by him many times. But it didn’t stop with the Zaans-Waterland landscape. He traveled a lot and made sketches and paintings of landscapes everywhere: Greek temples, American mountain landscapes, deserts, deserted villages in the Spanish plains, nudes, interiors and pub and sports scenes. Also special are the works with a magical-realistic slant.

P.A. van Wigcheren, art critic for the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Noordhollandse Courant, about Immink: “A passionate artist, who in his work – painting, watercolour painting, screen printing and making collages – tries to reduce the landscape to its essence. I have described Immink as ‘a master of omission’, indicating that he eliminates all kinds of details in his work and only reproduces the essentials in powerful planes, without the recognizability of the landscapes he captured disappears. All works radiate a powerful drive from the artist. In terms of color often very sparse, also reduced to the most necessary, but sometimes also very explosive, without ever becoming obtrusive and hard.”
