“Painting an abstract piece means to me: I don’t know where this painting is going. It’s a total surprise. I don’t think about whether its going to be a landscape or a portrait. I just let it happen. Those paintings give me the most pleasure to work on. Whilst working on this one the words ‘Golden Rain’ came up. That’s also how the tree Laburnum is called in Dutch. That’s why I titled it ‘Laburnum’.”
