This is a time lapse from a spread in my journal, inspired by Japanese prints.
I love the dim colours and the line work of those prints, and did a weird discovery according the Japanese ladies.

I already had a woman appeared on the left page (yes, this happens a lot, not on purpose). She looks in front of her. I was looking for examples in my book with prints and ALL women were drawn from the side or from half aside. Not any woman looked like this lady! So I had no other option than working from imagination.

Does somebody know why this is? Were women in β€˜old Japan’ not supposed to look someone in the face? Or is this just a coincidence?
