This is a time lapse from a spread in my journal, inspired by Japanese prints.
I love the dim colours and the line work of those prints, and did a weird discovery according the Japanese ladies.
I already had a woman appeared on the left page (yes, this happens a lot, not on purpose). She looks in front of her. I was looking for examples in my book with prints and ALL women were drawn from the side or from half aside. Not any woman looked like this lady! So I had no other option than working from imagination.
Does somebody know why this is? Were women in βold Japanβ not supposed to look someone in the face? Or is this just a coincidence?
